Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a unique approach to Music Education. It is based on the premise that the human body is the source of all musical ideas. This site is the home of Dalcroze Australia - you will find information here about the Dalcroze approach, about ordering books, CDs and other resources, and training happening in your area.

THE APPROACH
The Dalcroze approach uses movement to provide a complete musicianship training. Its emphasis on expression and creativity is balanced by its ability to develop a deep understanding of musical language and skills. It is a creative, rigorous and holistic approach to the study of music that is applicable to the teaching of young children right through to the development of professional performers. The Sydney Dalcroze Days are led by Dalcroze Australia's Director of Studies Dr Sandra Nash.

DR SANDRA NASH
Director of Studies, Dalcroze Australia; PhD, BMus (University of Sydney); Diplôme Supérieur (Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva).
After teaching in schools and universities in Sydney (Australia) and Quebec City, (Canada), Sandra Nash became a freelance Dalcroze Eurhythmics and piano teacher in 1991. At the Sydney Conservatorium of Music she taught Dalcroze Eurhythmics for over a decade in the Tertiary program (BMus, Music Education) and in the Open Academy’s Junior Training Program. As Director of Studies for Dalcroze Australia Sandra has been conducting Summer Courses and workshops around Australia since 1994, and continues to teach and examine internationally as a Co-Director of the Dalcroze International Examination Board (DEIEB). In 2003 she was appointed to the Collège of the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze, Geneva. She is also the Australian delegate to the FIER (the International Federation of Eurhythmics Teachers).
