SANDRA NASH

BMus (USyd); Dalcroze Licentiate (LDS, London); Dalcroze Diploma (IJD, Geneva).

Sandra founded the Dalcroze International Summer School in 1994. She is the current President of the Dalcroze Society of New South Wales, Director of Studies for the Dalcroze Council of Australia, and the Australian delegate to FIER, the International Federation of Teachers of Dalcroze Eurhythmics. She has taught at the International Dalcroze Congress in Geneva, as well as workshops in Taiwan and the USA. She currently teaches Dalcroze Eurhythmics in the Junior Training Program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Sandra has taught on the Faculty of the Université Laval, Quebec City, Canada. She was Director of Music at Kambala Church of England Girls' School, Rose Bay, and the McDonald College of the Performing Arts, Strathfield. She taught Ear Training in the School of Music and Music Education at the University of New South Wales, and Music for Dancers in the School of Theatre, Film and Dance at UNSW.

JOAN POPE (OAM)

BA, DipEd (UWA); BEd, MEd (ECU); Dalcroze Licentiate (IJD, Geneva); AdvCert (Art & Design) (Claremont), Dalcroze Diplome Superieur.

Joan is a Fellow of ACHPER and an Honorary Life Member of AusDance. In 1999, she was presented with the Dalcroze Diploma at the Jaques-Dalcroze Institute's International Congress. In 2001, Joan was awarded an OAM for services to the creative arts, children and community. In 2002, she received the Centenary of Federation Medal.

Joan has taught children, tertiary students, professional dancers, actors, teachers, and community groups in many areas concerning music, movement, drama, mime, and design. She has given workshops in all parts of Australia, as well as participating in many international symposia. Joan has taught on the faculty of the Dalcroze International Summer School since its inauguration.

RUTH SAFFIR

Ruth teaches at the Elder School of Music at the University of Adelaide, and is President of the Dalcroze Society of South Australia. She is a cellist with many years' experience as a performer and teacher.

ANDREW DAVIDSON

BMus (Hons I), BA (Theatre) (UNSW); GradDipMusComp (USyd); GradDipDramaticArt (Directing) (NIDA); MMus (Dalcroze), Dalcroze Licentiate (Longy, USA).


Andrew is a theatre director, musical director and composer based in Sydney. He holds degrees in music and theatre from the University of New South Wales. His work includes plays and musicals with leading independent theatre companies and a variety of cabaret shows with outstanding Australian performers.

Andrew studied the Dalcroze approach to music education with a diverse range of internationally recognised teachers, including Sandra Nash (Sydney), Lisa Parker (Boston), Dr Ruth Alperson (New York), Karin Greenhead (London) and Joan Pope (Perth). He attained the Dalcroze License and Master of Music in 1999 at Longy School of Music in Cambridge, USA.

In 2004, Andrew returned to fulltime study in the Directing course at the National Institute of Dramatic Art where he received a Helpmann Scholarship.


Dr MICHAEL GIDDENS

Dalcroze Licentiate (Sydney); MMus, PhD (UMelb).


Dr Giddens teaches music in Melbourne. He has undertaken research and teaching projects in Dalcroze Eurhythmics including a Master's thesis and a Dalcroze / Orff / Kodály piano tutor. Dr Giddens holds the Licentiate in Dalcroze Eurhythmics.
